***** Paddle and Hikes 2014 *****

Emily has been in contact with Wally Van Dyke of the Algoma Paddlers.  She encouraged them to plan some paddle trips  in the Mississaugi Park area. This would increase exposure of the facilities at the Park to people who might not normally travel there.  She also suggested planning a hike as part of the paddle trip.

Here are some dates that the trip planning committee for the Algoma Paddlers has booked:

1. May 24: Little White River. Paddle the distance from the usual "put in" to the usual  " take out" spot on the river.   Possibly combine the paddle with a hike to the cliff  overlooking the Little White River.  That is the hill that we called Cougar Mtn.   

2. June 21:  Lake DuBourne:  Paddle on Lake DuBourne .  Hike part of the VTA trail to the Firetower Lookout.

3. July 5:   Mississaugi Park:  Paddle on Semiwite Lake and Helenbar Lake.  This is possible to combine with a hike to the Lookout overlooking Helenbar Lake and back to the portage between Semiwite Lake and Helenbar Lake.

We ask that anyone wanting to lead the hike portion of the outing get in touch with Wally Van Dyke.  He can be reached at 705 356-7407 or e-mail: wvandyke@sympatico.ca. He will get that person in touch with the paddle trip leader to coordinate. A hike can be lead by 2 people (leader and sweep).  

Sirje will lead a paddle only outing on Depot  Lake (no hike) on Sept 13. She will lead a paddle combined with a hike on Flack Lake to Mt Baldy on Oct 5.
