David's turn to lead on a leisure Monday hike. We drove to the miners monument and walked around the north end of Horne lake. Picking our way past the various side trails to the sanctuary (much) we passed some remnant hemlock logs that the cleaning crew had removed earlier.. some about 30 inches in diameter..
Climbing the beginnings of the hill we dodged out to the first look out for snack and water break.. lovely breeze added to the vista across the lake to the town and the fountain..
Senses satiated for now, we retraced our steps, avoiding exposed roots and rocks all the way back to the parking.
13 in all and we never lost one.. it was the first time for some hikers to get to that side of the lake
