Clear Lake Camp, August 8, 2017

Commentary by Astrid, photos by Bill
Threats of a thunderstorm gave way to a gorgeous day as 15 hikers headed west on Hwy 17 to Clear Lake Camp, just outside Iron Bridge.  Our hosts, Nick and Louise, treated us to a wonderful two and a half hour hike along parts of the Voyageur Trail and skirted the Mississagi River just below the dam (that'd make a nice one way kayak outing!).  We were awed by the size of the some of the white pine and maple trees!  A mother of a hill awaited us on the return leg of our hike, and a half dozen of us went for a refreshing swim once we were back at camp.  We sure earned the delicious burgers and hot dogs with all the trimmings that Nick and Louise supplied, along with some wine, beer and other liquid refreshments.  Thank you so much for such a memorable outing!!
