SOUTH LAKE 2022 04 28

Chuck (and Jim, of course) led 11 (total) of us on a hike down South Lake Rd.. Our route was blocked by "overflow", but we saw some really big/fresh bear and wolf tracks along the softer gravel edges. A reminder, bear hunting season starts tomorrow, so wear orange. Great to see some familiar faces that we haven't seen for awhile! A reminder that Judy M. (Thank You Judy) is still supplying us with refuse bag holders, carriers, which we put to great use on our hike! A donation of $20 to cover cost is appreciated, but she/we are more interested in getting them out there to save/beautify our environment/trails. Thanks also to Brian P., who went out on Wed. with me to clear/mark (soon) a loop trail along the west shore of Peak Lake. Good for a Thurs. (due to terrain) hike if anyone is looking for a route. It still needs a little grooming/clearing and I will remark a short route off the main loop trail, in blue tape, to a nice little lunch/viewing spit (NOT a typo) on the south end of the south arm. The good news is that once you are up the steep incline literally right at the start, it is a shorter version of Cobre, with a couple of route options.
