FOR KAYAK AND CANOE USERS

RE THE OLD NAVY LEAGUE BUILDING

As per last Monday's Public works meeting, this building, not yet completed, is surplus, no designated use as the navy league is defunct. They rented it from the city. Jean Guy tells me that he investigated, at least 10 years ago, the possibility of a waterfront canoe/kayak storage/launch site with water access, for seniors no longer able to transport their craft to the water. The city is open to offers, and I need a list of interested parties, in or out of the hiking club. thanks

Council is looking at finishing this building, but not sure what fittings ie. racks/shelving they are going to install, until they have a purpose for the building, sooner than later. I pay $450/yr currently to store 4 kayaks and 3 canoes offsite. I am not sure the disposition of these craft in the near future, but  would not object to letting the City use them if they were to offer paddling instruction from this site as well.    Jim
