Hike to Spur Lake June 1 06

Ten of us parked at the end of Pearson and hiked on the roads to Esten Lake by the boat launch. From there we took the short route on the snowmobile trail through the wet area and up to the trail leading down towards Marshland River. We stopped at Spur Lake, where a bear was spotted on the trail ahead of us - it took off in a hurry - and had lunch at the point on Spur Lake. We had a few flies and mozzies buzzing around, but a pleasant breeze off the lake kept them down. Cleared up the usual garbage that people can apparently tote in but not tote out. Not a long hike, but beautiful weather and a breeze keeping the pests in check. Very little traffic on the multi-use trails.
