Thursday, 4th. January 2007, saw Fred lead a hike to Little Quirke Lake. Trail leads off Panel Mine Road, a steep incline at the start and then a fairly short hop over to the destination. Usually this allows access to other small lakes in the vicinity, but the uncertain ice conditions made this impractical. Part of the hike was on edge of the lakes, where the ice is about 6 inches thick. You are advised not to venture out too far as the conditions can be unsafe due to warmer weather.
