Boland River hike and clearing

On Friday, 18th. May, 8 members turned out for the hike and clearing of the Boland River Trail. This trail goes west from Hwy 639 to Wilkie Lake where the Boland continues it's journey to the Little White river. It skirts the Mikel Lake marsh and then climbs a saddle to drop down to Wilkie Lk. It has spectacular cliffs and a lovely rest stop at the lake, where the Boland forms a small rapids. We were lucky in that someone, probably a hunter, had been through in the fall with an ATV and cleared the trail of many obstructions. Despite that, we still had a job to do and took about 5 hours on the trail. Thx to Ingrid, Gisella, Shelley, Liz, Mark, Stan, Chuck and Phill for their hard work and for putting up with the blackfly and swampy conditions. Thx to Mark for his pics.
