Doug Ellenor

Most of you know by now that Doug Ellenor, the oldest active member of our hiking club, has been having some health problems. Doug is now a resident of Hillside Park Retirement Residence, room 328 at 11 Mississauga Ave. Doug loves having visitors so, if you are in the area, drop in and say hello.
Diane, Shirley and Ingrid have adopted Doug as their grandfather and have been busy fitting him out with suitable clothing for his new home. He was also in need of a small 'fridge to keep his medication in and we would like to get him a recliner chair. The Rev. Peter Tucker was good enough to buy a 'fridge for him and we are looking actively for a chair. This could be a used one in good condition. If you have one call Bill Ralph 8487445, or Chuck Zietsma 8481076, either to donate or sell it.
We had a voluntary cash drive at the meeting last night and received $120 from the assembled members - Outstanding! This will allow us to pay Peter and have a small balance towards the chair. Please contribute if you haven't already and thanks very much to those who have and are working to make Doug more comfortable. Give your contribution to any committee member.

Oh! By the way, if you were unable to attend the meeting last night, we had a great one with over 40 in attendance. Stephanne Fabris made a very interesting presentation on the history, present and future of logging and what goes into the harvesting of the forest today. Thanks again Stephanne.
Franz Ohler presented the club with a beautiful hand carved statue of a hiker that will be the possession of the President while in office. (Of course they'll have to wrestle it off me first!) Thanks Franz.
