A cloudy start to the day probably influenced the small turnout to the fun day at Quirke Lake last Saturday, 26 July. 11 of us gathered at Sears parking lot and then out to the end of Panel Mine Rd. 2 canoes and 1 kayak with a total of 4 and the rest of us walked to the beach.
The sun came out and it was a brilliant day, a strong wind freshened from the west and became strong as the day progressed. We hiked to Rochester Creek and then had lunch. The canoe-ers had a hard time against the wind on the return and a passing power boat was good enough to tow them back to the boat launch. Chuck, in his new ocean kayak, was able to paddle back. Unfortunately, the only camera amongst the group got a bath in the lake and was rendered useless. So....no pictures...sorry!
