Hi Phil,
I had 7 hikers out on Thursday in sunny warm weather for a hike to the beach at Esten Lake. We followed the ATV trail on the West side of Crystal and Angel Lakes to the small beach at Esten. There was a lot of water laying about on the first half of the trail and the bugs were quite bad but as the trail reached higher ground it got drier and a slight breeze kept their numbers down.
We had lunch overlooking Eston Lake and most people could remove their bug jackets for the hike back to the vehicles.
