Old Baldy hike
View from the top of Old Baldy.
On Thursday, 8th. Oct. we have scheduled the Old Baldy hike.
First caution is, this is a steady, steep climb to the lookout, followed by a steep descent to Baldy Lake. Although the round trip is only about 5km it is a rigorous hike.
Second caution is, you can only reach the trail head by boat. So if you are nervous about crossing Flack Lake in a fairly small boat, it may not be for you.
The club pays for the boat rental and the trip is free for club members. If you wish to bring a guest you will be asked to donate $5.00 for each person, or if you are not a club member in good standing, you will be asked to donate $5.00. (and receive 6 lashes from the skipper)
If you have a boat and an operators permit, and want volunteer to ferry people across Flack Lake, the Club will pay the day-use fee at the Park launch and your gas. Please let Gerry & Nickie know, tel. 461-6304.
We need to know how many will be needing a ferry to the trail-head as soon as possible.(some members have said they may kayak or canoe) If you do not let us know, you will be on a first come-first-served basis at the dock and may not get on a boat. (We have the sign-up list from the recent general meeting)
Let us know by replying to this e mail or Nickie & Gerry at gnjean@personainternet.com or phone them at the above number.
