We have been informed by Karen Makela, Director of Parks and Rec. at the city of Elliot Lake, that the club will not receive any funds from the city for our efforts in clearing the City and Trans Canada Trails in 2010. This is due to the severe budgetary constraints that all the city departments are working under at present.
To us it means we will no longer be able to support some of the programs and charities that we have supported in the past, at least until funding is resumed.
In light of the foregoing, as we have not received more than 3 confirmed reservations for the camping portion of Weekend in the Park Aug. 13/14th, this program will be cancelled. The hiking portion on Saturday is still on and we have some passes to get the car pools into the park. Meet at 10am at Sears as usual.
Your committee will be discussing our budgets in detail and information will be passed on to the membership as the decisions are made. It may be necessary to get some approvals at the next meeting Sept 21st. so we urge you to attend. More on that later as well.
