Subject: Thursday Dec.9, 2010 Hope Lake Trail
Fred lead eight hikers on the Hope Lake Trail, under sunny blue skies and chilly temperatures. At the mid way point of the trail we came upon an area that had been logged recently. The loggers were after the large white pines that grow in that area, what a shame! The trail was in need of some clearing. We managed to remove a lot of the smaller brush but a chain saw will be needed for the rest. After lunch we took a vote, and it was decided that the return route would be along the old road way. That part of the trail was clear but there were numerous icy patches. Perfect conditions for hiking this trail.
