This is firewood and camping season! This is a friendly reminder to all staff who deal with the public. A member of the public dropped off an emerald green bug last week and was unaware that the Emerald Ash Borer is a pest in this city.
i am sure that most of you are aware that the movement of all firewood regardless of species from within Sault Ste. Marie to outside of Sault Ste. Marie is still prohibited. This is a measure to prevent the spread of Emerald Ash Borer from within the city to other areas. This invasive pest species was confirmed to be infesting trees in Sault Ste. Marie several years ago. We receive a few public enquiries and we have the information displayed and available for the public to pick up at the Soo District office.
I we need any more information (i.e. pamphlets, keychain things), please advise me and we can obtain them.
