It was agreed at the May 15, 2012 General Meeting that LEISURE hikes (formerly referred to as Walk and Gawk) will become a part of the club's program offering. These hikes will take place every Monday and participants will meet at 10 am in the Sears parking lot. Leisure hikes will have the following characteristics:

- the pace will be a leisurely one, at a rate no faster than the slowest hiker in the group and with the group staying closely together.
- the terrain will be fairly even, with a minimal amount of hill climbing.
- the time taken will be approx. 2 hrs. including a break.
- normal club hiking protocol will be observed.
It is expected that hikers will have the opportunity to enjoy the environment, take pictures and get excited at seeing a certain bird, wild flower, etc. Hike leaders will be provided with a hike-trail information sheet, which information will be posted on the blog for future reference and consultation. To date we have five members who have committed to leading these hikes, however four of these will go in pairs thus we already have coverage for three Mondays per month. Obviously a few more hike leaders will be welcomed. Please call Chuck at 848-1076 if you intend to participate as a leader. There will be no Leisure Hikes on Holiday Mondays. The next Leisure Hike will be on Monday May 28.
