Intermediate Hike, Angel/Crystal/Slipper Lakes, June 14

Commentary and photos by John

I accompanied four Amazon Warriors on a rock climbing, bush whacking adventure on a seldom used part of the Woodpecker, Crystal and Slipper Lake trail area. The pace was torrid on the first leg of the hike up the Woodpecker Trail from the Washington Crescent snow dump so we ventured down the west shore of Angel Lake to the land bridge with Crystal Lake then scaled Crystal Mountain for a beautiful look down Crystal Lake. Emily pointed out numerous plants along the lake shore; Pitcher plants which eat insects and Wild Iris. The trail from Slipper Lake Look out down to the lake shore was really over grown and most of the trail markings were gone so we had to scout around several times to find the trail. Over all a perfect day and great outing with four real troopers.
