Intermediate Hike, Canmet, Aug 30

Commentary and Photos by Donna C.
A group of 7 hikers led by Fred F. went to Quirke Lake at Canmet by going down the steep hill off Stanrock Road.  There was a lot of activity along the shore; large mining machinery, boxes to put core samples were abundant, and a beautiful husky belonging to the mining crew befriended us, especially Sheldon.  Enroute back we saw trail marker ribbons to the right and followed a blazed trail to a high area where we had lunch.  We could see ' Split Rock" across the way, but did not venture to it and returned the way we came.  Nice breeze kept us cool despite the hot day.  PLEASE CLICK HERE TO VIEW PHOTOS
