He called a friend about 8 pm Friday night after getting home from his surgery asking about our new entrance sign for Sheriff Creek as he was always concerned about ‘getting things done’.... The friend told him that his only priority for now was to just rest up and get better and not to worry about other material things.... but that was Al...always keeping on top of projects that he loved so much...

Alan Day passed away last night at his home here in Elliot Lake. Al was one of the strongest and most energetic supporters of the environment and especially trying to ensure Elliot Lake had good trail systems that were developed and maintained to allow residents and visitors more opportunities to enjoy our wonderful area.. He was instrumental in getting the new boardwalks at Sheriff Creek built, worked on getting the TC Trail routed to EL and many other initiatives over the past decade ...
He will be greatly missed by us all and Elliot Lake has lost a great champion of our great outdoors.
