Couldn't ask for a better day for hiking; not a cloud in sight & the temperature ideal for hiking. Eight of us including myself hiked to Split Rock & Rooster Rock. Along the way we saw many signs of bear scats & came upon a ruff grouse which was very aggressive as she was protecting her chicks. We had an enjoyable lunch break on top of Split Rock; the view was spectacular & no bugs. extra bonus, we were joined by the company of Dennis & Nadine (tourist from Germany); they were very impressed with our area. In parting all of us wished them well for the rest of their trip. Oh to be young again! PHOTOS
