Meeting
opened at 7 pm by Jim M., welcoming all.
Minutes
of Meeting of May 26, 2015 were approved by Phil B and seconded by
Gerry R
Secretary-Treasurer
Report
Donna
reported all incoming and outgoing transactions and bank balance
since the last meeting.
Membership
is at approximately 92 people.
Motion
to approve the report by Shelley M and seconded by Marty T, motion
carried.
Trail Master Report
Jim
reported on the following trails:
Semi
White Lake trail, Snowshoe trail, High Rocks trail are all done.
Shared
Use of Trails advised us that the south side or Porridge Lake trail
is in need of clearing.
Hike
leaders should still let Ron T know of any trails in need of clearing.
Old Business
A card
of appreciation and thanks was given from Special Olympics for our
donation.
Club 90
gave thanks for our donation to them.
We are
still need ideas for places in need of trail signs (not on mine
property).
Lumberjack
Days at Mississagi Park was a huge success and was much appreciated.
Junior
Rangers trail clearing will be back another year.
Thanks
went to Sheila H and Donna C for the pizza nite, a good turnout.
If
anyone still has snowshoes from our club, please return for
inspection for upcoming season, new members can use them until they
buy their own snowshoes.
Inform
the hike leader or sweep is you leave the trail for any reason.
A
reminder that to get a gate unlocked behind mine property
1-705-461-0466.
Now
that hunting season is approaching we should wear something that does
not look like an animal.
Be sure
sweep's name is on sign up sheet.
Membership
dues should still be sent directly to the Soo, notify Donna so she
can update.
A
reminder that paddle outings on the Blog should state “not a VTA
sanctioned event”.
New
sign up sheets should be used to show “stats” for Jim to record.
Hike
etiquette sheets are available
New Business
Chuck Z
has informed us that the golf course is a “yes” for cross
country skiing this year.
The
city of Elliot Lake will look after the operation of the club.
A sign
up sheet is out for any of those wanting to assist in helping mark
the trails and clear if needed.
Emily W
spoke on the Paddle/Hike Day for October 3, advising us where to
meet, the days events, and asked for volunteers A motion for our
club to supply hot soup for this event was made by Gerry J and
seconded by Shirley Y, all were in favor.
A new
dining tent was needed at our site in Mississagi Park, thanks to
Emily W and her sister for the replacement of this tent.
Sign up
sheets are available for highways cleanup October 21.
A
motion to change hike start times to 11 am during January and
February winter month was made by Chuck Z and seconded by George H,
motion not approved, hiking
times will remain the same
It was
decided that hike leaders will make the call on the hike days to hike
or not if too cold.
Think
about a new executive for the November meeting and elections.
Jim M
spoke of the agenda of Shared Use of Trails Committee.
Volunteers
are needs to help Sheila H organize the upcoming Christmas party
December 3.
Upcoming Events 2015
Hosting
the VTA AGM October 17, 2015 at the clubhouse.
Highway
cleanup October 21.
Combined
Paddle-Hike October 3.
Next
hike leaders meeting January 12 at clubhouse at 2:30.
Next
general meeting and elections at clubhouse November 17.
Christmas
party December 3 at the Moose.
