Snowshoe Trail Hike - 2018-09-08

Photos by Steve Calverley and commentary by Phillip Barnes
On Sat the 8th September, 9 of us headed out on a cool but sunny day to the Snowshoe Trail. The trail was generally in good shape and dry, apart from the low spot entering the old quarry area. We had to bushwhack on an old trail around a flooded section. We lunched overlooking the river after a tour through the old townsite on the Quirke mine property. The old brick built flower gardens at the entrance to the town site are still there, hidden under overgrowing bush. We found cranberries in a couple of places and there should be lots in the adjacent bog by end of September.
