Slipper Lake Hike 2018-10-02

Photos by Marie Bergs: Commentary by Emily Windle
We were a lucky crew of 13 hikers on a sunny morning .
A cool breeze gave us the hint of October weather to come.
We hiked the Woodpecker Trail. More branches had fallen over parts of the trail  after the recent  storms.
There were  also some huge tree trunks or chicots  left standing after windstorms of long ago. Some trees had been completely overturned exposing their entire root system that had grown over bare rock.
Lunch was at the lakeshore. There was a very well kept campsite that we admired.

We capped off the hike with a stop for refreshments at McD's.
