Victoria Mountain, 2019-06-22

Commentary by Phillip Barnes:
The weather was perfect for a hike to Victoria Mountain on Saturday,  22nd. June. We first visited the Little Serpent River falls adjacent to the road into Victoria and then hiked down to the cataract falls beyond the power dam. This, before tackling the steep hike up to the summit of Mount Victoria. The start was fairly dry but overgrown and we had to search for the trail markers. We marked the trail as we proceeded, but many of the markers were still in place, including those that took us up to the top via the original trail. Beautiful and spectacular views all around. Elliot Lakes' Firetower lookout to the north and the North Channel and its islands to the south.
