Tuesday ,June 11 was a gorgeous day for a hike.
Ten pairs of dry boots stepped out of the cars at the end of Eaten Dr. North. However, they returned muddy but happy! They even got to practise the special road crossing technique ... just like the real Coureurs de bois did!
We made sure we had used bug spray before starting on ELATV Trail 2 off of Scott Rd.
The trail was muddy in spots but that just made us appreciate even more the rocky hilly parts where it was dry.
There were lady slippers and star flowers, some purple flowers, pink corydalis and strawberries in blossom along the trail. We saw a kingfisher, a hawk, a mourning dove and a few ravens.
At the lunch spot on a rocky out cropping on a small lake we saw possible bear activity signs.
On the way back we saw a good sized snapping turtle laying her eggs.
