Our hikers decided that it was a great day for a hike on the Spur Lake ATV trail. We parked at the Esten Lake Boat Launch.
Along the trail there were a few patches of bear scat. A couple on a side by side ATV passed us . We met with them again at Spur Lake . They told us that before they had passed us on the ATV trail they had seen a bear walking in our direction. There were 6 of us loud people so we probably interrupted his quiet commune with nature.
The bugs were not too bad and the humidity was also tolerable. There was a nice breeze from the lake .
We remembered that Spur Lake was a favourite hike for a former hiker Larry Clinesman.
We continued on the Spur Lake trail for about one more kilometre to the trail that leads to Spanish.
One disappointment was seeing that someone had taken the time and trouble to haul our an old soft top trailer and leave it there.
