Esten & Nordic Lakes, 2019-12-19

Commentary by Emily
Four footloose and fancy free snowshoers showed up for our hike. We parked at the end of Esten Dr. North and headed south on the snowmobile trail. We arrived at the entrance to the Esten Lake boat launch and continued on the snowmobile trail that leads to Spanish. However, we continued on this trail for only a kilometre to another small trail that took us to Nordic Lake. There was a snowmobile trail across the lake. We decided not to follow!

We decided to retrace our steps to the Esten Lake boat launch and then on to Spur Lake. A few animal tracks were visible such as squirrel and fox or maybe coyote or maybe wolf! Jury is still out on that.

All during the hike there was a light snow fall. The trees were snow covered. It was like walking through a painting by Robert Bateman. No photos of this hike  but check a Robert Bateman painting and you will see what I mean! Merry Christmas everyone!
