Sheriff Creek, 2020-01-23

Photos and commentary by Emily:
Eight Great Snowshoers toured through some of the  lesser used trails at Sheriff Creek after Wednesday's snowfall. We entered the Yellow Trail off Milliken Mine Rd.  across from the berm and proceeded around the pond. We continued up the hill to join the Blue Trail down to Horne Lake . We continued around Horne Lake to the Green Snowmobile bridge where the Blue Trail led us  along the Tamarack swamp to a picnic table for our snack break.
We tried making a snowperson but the snow was not quite sticky enough. Our persistence yielded only a Snow elf!
We saw squirrel , fox and maybe otter tracks. Wildlife sightings were amazingly plentiful today. We saw perhaps 100,000 critters!    Snowfleas!
Good conversations ranged from topics such as scam phone calls, to unsafe ice conditions,  to future trails we will hike.

We finished our hike on the Red Trail along the causeway back to the main parking lot.

The Danish have the word  hygge . It means  a convivial and warm atmosphere among people. We had lots of hygge today!
