Sweet Sixteen or was it sixteen sweet hikers parked at Glendon Ball Park off Washington Crescent.
We hiked up several hills to the west of town and followed trails through maple and yellow birch . Then hemlock groves sheltered us as we headed south. We followed a short trail to the infamous long hill on the Woodpecker trail.
However, we were heading down that hill!. Looking at the hardwood trees in the bright mid morning sun it was remarkable the shadows that they cast. Those shadows undulated down the hills . Truly a photographer 's dream shot!
We cleared fallen branches . Some hikers cut down branches and trees blocking the trail.
We joined up with an ATV trail which lead us to a clearing on Slipper Lake. Plenty of snowmobile tracks snaked across the lake . The tracks looked like they had a lot of frozen slush . There was at least one ice fishing on the lake. There also was a well used campfire circle on the shore of Slipper Lake where we had lunch.
A beautiful day with pleasant company inspired people to make comparisons with Austria or Mont Tremblant ! All this in our own backyard!
