UPDATE LETTER FRON JOHN BURNS

I apologize for taking so long to respond to messages and e-mails, but as you can imagine it has been a hectic couple of weeks here in Ottawa.

Dianne finished her last radiation treatment on Monday and now starts the waiting game to see how effective it is at reducing the cancer. She will have her first follow up appointment with the radiologist on the 6th of October. That appointment will most likely involve arranging for a CT scan at some point.
Dianne has been doing amazingly well all things considered. She is very tired and resting a lot but she spends a lot of time online and reading so she is alert and gets up to walk circuits around the apartment every so often. Not that it's far to go but to keep moving is very important. She even does the odd load of laundry.
Dianne is still eating although it is a bit of a struggle at times. The oncology nurse told her to eat whatever she felt like as caloric intake is more important at the moment than what you eat. This is going to take some getting used to. One night all she wanted was an egg Mcmuffin smothered in ketchup, then it was blueberry pancakes with bananas, this morning she asked for rice pudding, I kid you not! She hasn't eaten any of this stuff in years!
I know a lot of people have been wanting to skype chat but Dianne finds it really draining at the moment but that should rectify itself in a few weeks according to the oncologist nurse.
Well that's all to report for now, just wanted to let you know that we appreciate all the kind words and messages of encouragement, it means so much.
I will keep you posted on the latest developments.
Take care, cheers to all
John
