Emily led us from the snow dump, up the gulch to the newly cleared and marked Woodpecker trail system. We explored the flats dodging puddles, streams, dead cars and branches. This led us to the shore of Crystal lake and we followed the shore line east to the isthmus between there and Angel lake. We snacked there and some crossed the creek to view the ice hanging from the cliff. Once all were back safely, some hanging ice started letting go with resounding crashes. After a head count or two, we headed back to the flats and took a different part of the woodpecker back to the cars. 8 km of some of the nicest hiking in the area... we are blessed !
