BOOM TRAIL 2020 12 03

A group of 12 followed Jackie down to the Boom camp on the shores of lake Huron... the logs came down the Mississaugi watershed to the mouth and then were floated (boomed) through a man made canal to the town of Blind River for milling and shipping, thus avoiding the possible storm damage to the booms.  A grey  day but a very good trail... any wet bits were still frozen enough to hold up well. We walked out to a point that sheltered a beach from the prevailing storm winds and I felt nostalgic for  Parry Sound and Killbear park as the shore, with the rocky, wind shaped pine covered point and related beach would fit in well there... lots of interpretive posts along the way and a very enjoyable walk...
