There were fifteen hikers who walked the old growth trail from beach to beach to park. There were birds and loons and very happy dogs to keep us company and we were amazed at the huge trees that were downed by the fearsome storm last summer. In particular, a huge poplar tree came down near the trail and there was a lot of discussion on how it all came to be. The city has done a good job of clearing the very popular trail of all the debris. We had a short break at the park and came back having walked 6 kms total. To my mind, it is a gem of a hike, a true treasure of Elliot Lake.
