HALO 2022 02 22

Emily led 4 snowshoers on part of the Halo Trail along the east and south shores of Angel Lake .

Recent snowfall necessitated a change in starting point . Burleigh Park was not plowed so, we went to Canmet Snow Dump to start and end our hike.

A bush trail along the east shore of Angel Lake  brought us to ELATV2 .

We momentarily stopped at Turtle Rock on our way to another bush trail that led to  a clearing in the large white pines on the shore.  We checked part of the rest of the southern Halo Trail. A bit too snowy to continue further. We returned to ELATV2
and continued to Jake's Lake.

Tamarack , black spruce , maple, popular, huge hemlocks, white and red pine provided shelter and beautiful background for our hike.

There was a grouse that had woken up from its snowy bedding and took to flight. We did not  witness  the fact but saw the wing marks and the hole  in the  snow where it had escaped its shelter.

We went back to the Canmet Snow Dump and used our 4  wheel drive to laugh at the snow drifts on  our way to Mississauga Avenue.
