Six hikers showed for this beautiful day expedition. Fears of icy conditions form last night's rain were dissipated because the temperatures were well above zero.
We started from Paris Drive Mall and headed into the Woodpecker Trail System by following skidoo trails between Tokyo and Washington Crescents.
Along the way we saw squirrel and raccoon trails as well as a peppering of snowfleas just about anywhere we looked!!!
We stopped for a break at the lookout over Slipper Lake. . Our lunch was on Crystal Lake. We saw slush forming on Crystal Lake so we stayed on the shore.
Don was kind enough to pick up beer and pop cans that were left at a campfire site.
On our way back the sun had warmed up the snow so much that it was sticking to our snowshoes.
We were blocked on our way back when the milder temps melted an iced over Creek on the trail. It was a torrent!!.  Merret suggested another short bypass where there was a bridge !! The day was saved.
