PANEL MINE 2022 07 12

Jean Guy, back from a brush with Covid, led us out north of town.. trail off Panel Mine road to the west and walked a peninsula with nice views across the lake and a few small beaches.. blue berries, raspberries and strawberries were seen and sampled.  back along the trail we headed up and then up to the long ridge overlooking the lake... it is the best view of Quirke lake available as one can see down both arms of the lake..  loads of blueberries on the ridge...  and proof if proof were needed of what bears do in the woods.. we saw a small garter snake, deer tracks, leopard frog and a few toads..  deer fly, mossies and a horse fly met their doom by annoying me, another new hiker joined us.. 2 and 1/2 hours nice breeze and sunshine..  great day to be out
