Dave led the 10 person hike south of town to the McCarthy lake falls. Drove down the hill just because I am a thoughtful leader. (and I did NOT want to climb back up it when hot and tired) Mostly a road walk but completely full of flowering plants on the shoulders.. when we turned into the trail to the falls, the usual wet footing was dry.. a couple of trees are down on the trail but small enough to step over.. a few hikers had not been there before and were impressed... wait till we bring them back in the spring.. the river was low enough that Walt was able to hop across it and a group crossed the pond on a rocky causeway... after a peaceful break we retraced our path and got back without incidence... just the right temp.. sun and shade.. good 2.5 hour hike
