There were 6 hikers who started the hike with a lecture on the mnemonic COLD. Since the temps were not that chilly the "overheating, avoid it" was especially important. The trail to Peak Lake was not so long but rugged. While the six were idling by the fire, a faux coyote call was heard and humans were spotted. Two late hikers joined the group. Unfortunately, the weenies were horribly overdone due to a impatience with a hot fire. At least the sweet mustard was good. On the return an attempt was made to feed a chickadee, but a skittish bird so far away from the town did not partake. The lake ice was tested (see the photo) and was good to go for the next hike.
