RENEE RELIEF 2023 01 19

Seven hikers - Julia, Walter, Louise, Eva, Ginette, Janie, and led by Renee F. - defied the coming snowstorm and headed out on the more challenging trail by the golf course - the trail below Rainbow Ridge.  We were pleasantly surprised because the trail was initially nicely packed down to the first little lake, but then reality hit! From that point forward it was a difficult snowshoeing trek - deep snow and lots of snow covered boulders to manoeuvre over/around (with some hidden surprises!) We had some significant hills to conquer, including a boulder strewn steep hill which made our footing very tricky, but we made it safely to the VTA part of the trail. We stopped for a rest and snacks on a plateau type cliff, overlooking the area which we had just climbed up, and it was beautiful!

At the junction with the Rainbow Ridge Trail, we turned left to the lookout, continued down the hill, and eventually made our way across the golf course - our cars never looked more welcome!  It was a tremendous workout, but all agreed it was an awesome hike!
