Three determined hikers convinced the hike leader to do the hike despite the unforecast drizzle that began just before the start of the hike process... and developed into full on rain before we hit our starting point! (Thank you Keith for the loan of the bucket hat!) Despite weather forecasts suggesting no rain and a hint of sunshine, reality proved to be otherwise! The Paul Torrance trail was a little overgrown with grasses and ferns and accented by many boughs leaning in over the trail - all of which deposited their accumulated raindrops on us as we plunged through - and eventually soaked some of us up to our hips, but, when surveyed several times for opinions on continuing or turning back, these three hearty hikers opted to push on! The trail is not currently well marked and as the trail began to close in on us, we decided to go back and explore a new side trail which led us into a bit of a bog ... did I mention the mosquitoes and blackflies? .... they became unmerciful and made stopping for longer than 2 seconds a major scene of torture! They eventually convinced the determined threesome + leader that a return to the cars would be the best decision ever. Maintaining an upbeat, positive attitude proved to be an insignificant challenge for today's hikers, though, and our adventure was enjoyed by all ... or so they told me!
