Led by the indomitable Chuck, we hiked the Tamarack Road on a lovely, clear afternoon. The 5 of us managed to hike 4.2 kms and nary a bear to be seen! However, lots of bear scat included one “pile” containing red berries which we couldn’t identify. Perhaps choke cherries - obviously not easily digestible! A dark coloured animal with a long tail scampered into the bush ahead of us - after some discussion the consensus was it may have been a marten. Several small toads and a partridge later we returned to our vehicles. After the recent rains the bugs were out in full force, so we moved at a brisk pace. The bush is so lush and green right now - an enjoyable afternoon with good conversations and company. PHOTOS
