ANGEL LAKE 2023 08 08

A group of seven....no, not the painters. We were hikers along Angel Lake.

The  Magnificent Seven left Burley Park following the trail to Canmet Snow Dump. As we continued to the first access point at Angel Lake some of our group detected campfire smoke. Smoke and heat were still emanating from a campsite among trees and dry debris .

The Elliot Lake Fire Dept arrived within 15 minutes of our 911 call.
Quickly hoses and a pump were prepped and the area was doused and stirred to extinguish fire in the tree roots to a depth of over a foot.

Kudos to those  firefighters who dealt with a potential disaster in such a swift and professional manner.

We continued around the shoreline Angel Lake to a spot near the " Ice Cliffs". Along the way we passed 2 different campsites. No one seemed to be home as we trekked past.

During our hike we saw numerous mid and late summer flowers: curley dock,  burdock,  tangy, jewel weed, Himalayan balsam, hawkweed to name a few.

Total distance covered was about 6.6 km.

Great weather, pleasant company and beautiful scenery: is there better way to start one's day?
