BOB STERLING SKI AND BIKE TRAIL 2023 11 23

The clouds dropped a bit of a snow /rain mix on us as we started from Spine Rd Beach. Patches of blue began to break through those clouds.

A lucky group of 13 hikers hiked most of the Bob Stirling Ski and Bike Trail. We also did a few side trips in towards Hector Lake and Mink and to our lunch site at Pim's Camp on Elliot Lake .

Along the way, we checked out 2 of the warming huts on the trail. It looks like work has been done to repair or replace the steel siding and roofs.

Some squirrel and Grey fox tracks were visible in the fresh snow. Some industrious and hungry pileated woodpeckers had been busy recently  at a few of the tall yellow birches.

The trail started in maple and yellow birch forest and then went through stands of hemlock and cedar. Huge tangles of uprooted trees were ever present along the path of the huge wind storm that blew through 2 years ago in August.

We arrived back to the cars at Spine Beach after trekking 10. 2 km.
