Esten Lake
We had another crack at the rugged shoreline of Esten Lake. The trail had been extended by the hike leader last week, so we went longer than we did in October. The conditions were what the army calls "wet cold" which can be miserable if people are not equipped properly. However, we seemed to have emerged with no wet feet. No one wore snowshoes, which was just as well as there was a wee bit of climbing involved. Lunch was just in time as the locals were getting tired and hungry. A short compass bearing through the woods brought us to another Elliot Lake landmark, an abandoned car, year, make and model unknown. We returned via the ATV 2 trail. Great to see a new hiker (for this leader) and we no doubt appreciate whatever we do to soothe our sore muscles after a 4+ hour hike.
