9 hikers came out for a hike on Grant’s Trail on a beautiful sunny day. In spite of temperatures remaining under -1 C, coats opened up and some were removed.
Some of us were taken aback at all the trees cut down to make way for a new snowmobile trail - the landscape looks totally different now! We had to make a little “bridge” of logs to help us navigate a big area of water - and no one fell in!Fortunately, once we reached the “Grant’s Trail” sign, the trail continues as normal - minus the crazy summer ferns!
At 11 a.m. we gathered for a moment of silence, remembering our veterans and their sacrifice, with Ginette closing with a few words. We enjoyed the sun at our break spot, the rock face overlooking Rye Lake. From there it was a short hike back to the cars.
