A whopping 10 hikers showed up for today's hike to Little Quirk Lake / Turd Cove. One was a new hiker "trying out" the club. The hike leader did proudly explain to one of the hikers the etymology of the locality name of the location which has been used by some members as a winter fishing and campsite. Snow on the ground did not slow us on the hill climb at the start. The trail was in good shape due to clearing, a few weeks ago, by some members, thank-you. We noted some ice on a pond, so winter is coming according to Jon Snow. Upon arrival to the site, we were greeted by a former member of the club sipping his usual aromatic coffee concoction. Ruthie was so enthusiastic that she started a fire in the pit, with encouragement from some of the hikers. A leisurely lunch was necessary, since the hike leader had to fire-up his own stove. The trek back, as usual, was shorter since the elevation was gain was reversed.
