The Eagle and Birdie Trails were tackled by 11 slightly eager hikers. The weather started out chilly and dull, but soon the sun came up, brightening spirits.
We discovered that without lots of snow and ice, there are actually a couple of tricky parts on the Birdie Trail that required more attention…but we said we are Coureurs de Bois, so nothing should intimidate us! When we got to the little creek crossing, we realized that the little bridge was no longer there, and part of the hand rail for support was missing. All I could think about was the movie True Lies where Arnold Swartzennegger yells to Jamie Curtis “the bridge is out! The bridge is out!” Our missing bridge was not as dramatic, but it’s fun to imagine a dangerous adventure!We hiked a little over 5 km so maybe a tad longer for a Monday hike, but no problem!
