We pushed the limits of a Monday hike today but no one complained as the weather was perfect for a winter hike.
Our 5 km hike had us hike up a long(ish) hill on the Jack Rabbit trail, turning right at the junction, which then led us to the upper Yellow trail. We followed the Yellow Trail to the Blue Trail, enjoying the tranquility of walking in the woods. Along Horne Lake we had to take more caution hiking on the rocky section, but our 11 hardy hikers had no problems navigating the icy sections. We took our snack break at the bench by Horne Lake, but some ventured to the larger rocks along the shore and in the water to sit and bask in the sun. It helped that the water along the shore was solidly frozen! Rested and fed, we made our way back to the cars. We had a new hiker join us today and she said that she loved the hike!
