Mon morning wander 2024 05 20

Eight hikers, most netted and sprayed for bug protection, set out along an old road with the goal of reaching the Dunlop Lake boat launch.  This particular hike was chosen to avoid being deep in the woods and hopefully catch a nice breeze to keep the biting, swarming hordes away from us.  The hoped for breeze did not happen.

The trail was not difficult, and this adventurous group was willing to follow an offshoot from the main road that the hike leader was fairly certain would bring us back to the main trail (it did). This area had been replanted many years ago and there were clear sightlines between the  trees through this entire area.  Birdsong was plentiful, strawberry plants are blooming and blueberry bushes were also spotted.

Kudos to the group for their textbook road crossing (twice). We strolled along the ATV trail and the path along the edge of Dunlop Lake, before heading back the way we came.

A relatively short hike, with a  very pleasant, cheerful group, including two hikers who were new to our club.  Thanks to Camilla and Keith for picking up litter along the way.
