Participaction #19 4 hikers 3.6km 3hrs
This was a scouting trail marking/clearing hike the sole purpose was to see what kind of condition Mt Victoria ( near Spanish ) was in.
This is not a trail we do regularly and judging by the overgrowth few if anyone has been through it in awhile. We got about 85% of the trail marked and cleared. What we thought was the summit was actually a few hundred feet lower, and so this Thurs June 27th we will be going back to conquer the true summit, having said that....
This trail is classed as an intermediate trail and has areas that will test your fitness, even though we have marked and cleared the trail it is by no means a well worn easy stroll to the top, so be forewarned...but the views, and the rapids ( we'll check out after the hike ) are worth the trip.
Appropriate footwear is a must, as is water and some kind of snack. Temps for this thurs are forecast to be 6c cooler than today and sunny so that will definitely help, bug juice and or headnet will come in handy in places ( not needed at river ) parking is limited 3-4 cars at most so we will carpool, from scotiabank/108 it is 40km to Beckerton shooting range road where we will turn north ( left ) from hwy 17. A gravel rd winds for approx 8km to the trailhead.
Any questions just ask in this thread, hope to see you @9am this thurs at scotia bank.
Edit: It was hard to take a pic of but when we got to what we thought was the summit, there was something spelled out with rocks that we were very surprised yet glad to see...
